David Wayne Hayes, Brother Dave, passed away unexpectedly on March 28, 2025, in Shreveport, Louisiana. Born on December 27, 1956, Dave lived a life defined by service, craftsmanship, and a profound love for the great outdoors.

A proud veteran of the United States Navy, Dave cherished the camaraderie and experiences gained during his service. Dave gained the nickname "Hurricane Hayes" during this time from his shipmates. His time in the Navy became a source of many stories he enjoyed sharing with anyone that shared an interest.

After leaving the military, Dave pursued a successful career as a welder. He retired from SMI Joist in Hope, Arkansas, before returning to Shreveport to work with Alpha Welding. There, he perfected his skills and made lifelong friendships, particularly with his boss, Dan, who he respected deeply. Dave's dedication to his craft was evident, and he took pride in the quality of his work.

Dave had a strong connection to nature. He spent countless hours outdoors, whether hunting, fishing, or simply soaking in the beauty of his surroundings. His most cherished moments were spent around a campfire, a cold beer in hand, surrounded by close family and friends who brought joy to his life.

Renowned for his generosity and unwavering kindness, Dave had a heart that knew no bounds. He was a man who would give selflessly, embodying a spirit of compassion that left a lasting impact on everyone he encountered.

Dave was preceded in death by his parents, George Lloyd Hayes Jr. and Mary Lou Montgomery Hayes, as well as his brother, Russell Duke Hayes.

He is survived by his brother, James "Skipper" Hayes, and his wife, Brenda Hayes; nieces Ashley Cage and her husband Cody Cage, and Amber Hayes and her friend Corey Brooks; great-nieces Addie and MaKenzie; along with numerous other relatives and friends who held a special place in his heart.

A service will be held on Friday, April 11, 2025, at Auld's Funeral Home at 4:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in David's honor to Louisiana Hunters for Heroes.

Brother Dave is deeply missed. His memory will live on in the stories shared around future campfires and in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know him
