David Bryant Gregory

September 11, 1931 - January 30, 2023

David Bryant Gregory was born on September 11, 1931, to David Bryant Gregory and Eva Gregory in Natchitoches, Louisiana and passed away on January 30, 2023, after a brief illness at the age of 91, with his loving wife, Patsy by his side.

David joined the Air Force on January 2, 1952, he was a Military Police Officer during the Korean War.  After being honorably discharged from the military and having various jobs, his calling to serve others had him joining the Shreveport Police Department in 1959, he later became a sergeant for the Louisiana State Police Department.  David put his life on the line as a State Trooper many times to save and protect his community for over 20 years before he retired.  David realized retirement was not for him and started working for Ryder Truck Rental where he became the district safety manager for 10 years before retiring a second time.

David was a jack of all trades and a master of all.  His hobbies included playing guitar and bass, restoring old vehicles, welding, Nascar racing, golf, and anything outdoors.  He would do anything to help his family and friends in his grumpy, loving way.

David is preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Nita Gregory, of 41 years, his brother, Harry Gregory, and his two sisters, Yvonne and Dorothy.

He is survived by his wife, Patsy Shaw Gregory, of 19 years; his bonus sons, Ricky Shaw (Terry), Donald Shaw, and Kevin Shaw (Leslie).  He is survived by his sons, David Gregory (Darla) and Waylon Gregory and his brother, Hardy Gregory (Kathleen).  David is also survived by his grandson, Dustin Cole (Alex), granddaughter, Miki Cole, and 4 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.  He was a loving husband, father, grandfather (Pappy), and friend to many.

A celebration of David's life will be held at Aulds Funeral Home, 7849 East Kings Highway, Shreveport, Louisiana 71115, on February 25, 2023, at 1:00 PM with a private graveside service for family and close friends to follow.
