David Eugene
Bell
September 27, 1957 – October 3, 2022
Please join us & celebrate the life of David Eugene Bell on Monday, October 10th from 5-7 pm at Auld's Funeral Home, 7849 King Highway, Shreveport, La. 71115.
David was born on September 27, 1957, at P & S Hospital in Shreveport, Louisiana to Patsy Apple Bell & Gordon Eugene Bell. Our hearts were forever broken on Monday, October 3rd, 2022, when he joined friends & family in heaven.
David grew up in Blanchard, Louisiana. He attended Blanchard Elementary School & Northwood Jr./Sr. High School. He was most often affectionately known as "Bear" or "Big Bell". David never met a stranger. Everyone who ever met him, loved him.
David was well known everywhere, especially in the racing circles. He could take a motor apart and put it back together with his eyes closed. He could listen to an engine and tell exactly what was wrong, why it was missing and how to fix it. David always loved the races. When he stopped racing himself, he still enjoyed watching his friends & giving advice to new, young drivers.
David was super proud of his mud racing truck, The Super Chicken. He rigged it so a rubber chicken would shoot out of a canon from his back window and way up into the crowd. He knew everyone would love it. That was David Bell. Give 'em a show. Make 'em smile.
David made lifelong friends while working at Halliburton and until he retired, driving for the Teamsters & the entertainment industry. It was there he was cast as "Bear" Sawyer in Texas Chainsaw 3D. He met & became friends with the phenomenal "Leatherface" Dan Yeager, another gentle giant with a heart of gold. Also while driving for the Teamsters he met and formed a special bond with the one and only Miss Lucy Lawless. Miss Lucy always brought a special smile to his face and to his heart. She called during Covid just to check on him.
And that was David Bell. He didn't do anything small. He did everything big. People loved him big. And the hole he leaves in our world is big.
David was preceded in death by his grandparents, his parents, and his beloved brother Garry Dean.
Left to cherish his memories are his daughter Jennifer Casey Rowell, husband Chuck & children Shelby Rowell & Logan Rowell; his daughter Ila Morton Owens & children Alaina Owens, Landon Owens & Lukas Owens; his sister Shirla Bell Pullin, Robert "Bubba" Baker III, his nephew Tony Pullin & his niece Ramona Pullin, great nephew Justin Pullin, great niece Hayley Kennedy, husband Dalton Kennedy & daughter Harleen Kennedy; his wife Terri Strange Bell & 4 daughters Amber McCoy & husband Cleve, Erin Heflin, Allison Williams & husband Jason, Emily Heflin. Known and loved dearly as Bear & Pops by nieces, nephews & grandchildren.
We are lost without you David.
