Stonewall, LA- David M. Cox, Sr., 64, died after an unexpected illness on May 29, 2020. He was born October 8, 1955, in Shreveport, the only son of R.B. and Ruby Cox.

David graduated from Stonewall High School, Class of 1974. After retiring from General Motors in 2009, he followed in the footsteps of his father and became an avid farmer that loved taking care of his cows and tending to the land. He also enjoyed welding and creating equipment that helped him on the farm.  He was also a great carpenter that could build a deck in a weekend. He loved life, his family, and especially his grandchildren. He was the most selfless person you ever met.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his great-nephew, Justin Bloxom. Coincidently, Justin would have celebrated his 23 ^rd birthday on the day of David's passing. Surviving in addition to his wife, Annie J. Cox, are his daughter Shelly Thornton, husband Chad and his son David "Madison" Cox, Jr.; two granddaughters, Kristen Carter, husband Ray and Reece Thornton; stepsons Rob Christian, wife Karen and Rodney Christian, wife Heather; step-grandchildren Kendall and Kaine.  Sisters: Madeline Witham, husband Eddie, Donna Fejleh, and Vanessa Fogleman, husband Lynn; numerous nieces and nephews and great-grandson, Ryder Allen Carter due June 26, 2020.

A service of remembrance will be held at his and Annie's home at 6:30 p.m. Saturday, June 6, 2020. Those who wish to remember David and honor his memory are invited to attend. The family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to the doctors, nurses, and staff at LifeCare in Willis-Knighton that took care of David for the past 7 weeks and especially allowing his wife and children to spend the last few days with him. We are forever grateful.
