A graveside service for Darroll Benton Kay, will be held, Friday, July 26, 2024, at 12:00 PM at Forrest Park West Cemetery, 4000 Meriwether Road, Shreveport, Louisiana 71109.   A visitation will be held prior to the service at 10:00 AM at Aulds Funeral Home, 7849 E. Kings Hwy, Shreveport, LA 71115.

Darroll was born December 1, 1937, in Honolulu, Hawaii to parents Russell and Opal Kay and passed away on Wednesday, July 24, 2024.  As a young man he served in the armed services as a Marine.  During his early years he lived in several places including, Hawaii, Texas, and finally settling in Shreveport, Louisiana where he took over his father's business, Kay's Wrecking Yard, changing the name to American Auto Salvage and operating the business until 2011.  In his free time, he enjoyed local dirt track racing, gardening, fishing, and bowling.

He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Leatrice M. Kay; sister, Myrna Darnell Wray and husband, Bobby; daughters, Diane Hooper and Kristi Lindemann and their spouses; stepdaughters, Teresa Brown and Debbie Drach and their spouses; and stepson, Greg Hammett.  He is also survived his 11 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
