Danny Elgin Lester (May 29, 1946 – March 6, 2024)

Danny Lester, 77, of Shreveport/Bossier, Louisiana, died on March 6, 2024.  Danny was born in Flint, MI to William and Margaret Newton.  He grew up in a loving home with many brothers and sisters so there was never a dull moment and always someone to spend quality time with. Danny met the love of his life, Mary Ellen, in high school and they knew they were meant for each other. They were happily married until Mary went home to be with Jesus and are now reunited for eternity.  Danny is survived by 4 of their children, Danny Lester, Machelle Carr, Danyelle Blossey, and Burton Lester as well as many grandchildren and great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his wife, Mary Lester and oldest daughter, Peggy Swilley.

Danny loved to spend his free time outdoors and never turned down a chance to go fishing. Those who knew him and loved him affectionally referred to him as "Pop." He had an unforgettable laugh and a sense of humor that made him the instant favorite for his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. His family will be celebrating his life with a private ceremony to honor his memory and spend time together reuniting just as he would want them to.
