In Loving Memory of an Extraordinary Father, Soldier, and Friend

On Friday, March 28th, 2025, Dale Findley Springer passed away peacefully into his Savior's arms at the age of 86.  He was with his daughter, Angela, holding her hand  listening to "Come Jesus Come", and received a final "salute"  as the Barksdale Air Show Airplanes were flying overhead where he could hear them.  A memorial service will be held on Monday, April 14th, 2025 at 3:00 PM at Aulds Funeral Home Chapel located at 7849 E. Kings Highway.

Dale Findley Springer,  born September 18, 1938, will forever be remembered as  fun-loving, joke-telling, "Buddy". Dale was nicknamed Buddy from an early age of 12 because he was instantly a buddy to anyone he met. He grew up in the small town of Duncan, Oklahoma with his mom, sister and grandmother.  At the early age of 15, he became a skilled pool player and bowler where he contributed his "earnings" to the household as the man of the house. After graduating high school in 1958, he married his high school sweetheart, Julia (Judy) Bush,  and immediately enlisted into  the Air Force. One year later, they welcomed their one and only child, Angela (Angie) into the world.  For 22 years, Buddy and his family travelled the world together living in places like Japan, England, and other state-side bases. He was also stationed on TDYs to Viet Nam, Thailand, Greece and Germany.  HIs love for his family, patriotism, service and Christian Faith were instilled in his core values.

Following his retirement after 22 years in the Air Force, Buddy  began his career at the GM Automobile Plant. He worked there for the next 20 years making S-10 trucks, and making new, lifelong friends.

Buddy loved knowledge and spent countless hours reading, completing Crossword Puzzles, and hanging with "Alex" (Trebek) while watching "Jeopardy!". When he wasn't learning new things, he was avidly cheering for "Dem Boys" in his Cowboy Jersey, or eating lunch at his favorite place, Cafe USA. Buddy was beloved by everyone. He was a selfless servant with boundless generosity always wanting to help others in need.  He was a devoted husband, father, Gramps. and the ultimate friend.  Buddy would drop everything to help anyone in a pinch.

Buddy's  greatest treasure was his family. Nothing made his face light up as much when he was spending time with them, and his pride for his family could not be matched. Buddy would always say, "Our family may be small in size, but we are big in love".  Buddy is preceded in death by his sister, Donna Olstead. Buddy's legacy will live on through his daughter, Angie Custer, his best friend, Judy Wood, granddaughter Sami (Jon Michael) Stevenson, and his great grandchildren: Lainey, Parker, and Ellie Stevenson.

The family would like to thank  Sheree Robinette, Kathy and Ebony at the Northwest Louisiana Veteran's Home for their patience, comfort, and medical care.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Dale F. Springer's name to St. Jude's Children Research Hospital, or to the Alzheimer's Foundation of America.

Rest in Peace, Buddy Dale. You will always be remembered for how you were  every one's, "Buddy for Life!"
