Cynthia Gene "Genie" Foster, born January 3, 1951, died peacefully at the age of 66 on Wednesday the 18th of October at her home in Shreveport, LA after a lengthy illness.
Genie, a graduate of Fair Park High School in 1969, lived and worked in Shreveport her entire life where she dedicated herself to helping others. She was a support staff member at the Shreveport Medical Society in the 1980s and the Council for Alcoholism and Drug Abuse in the early 1990s. In 1996 she began working as a self-employed massage therapist. "I have a need myself that is fulfilled when I nurture others."
She was an accomplished pianist and loved to play for her family. She loved to dance whenever music was playing. She was a fantastic cook and loved to have family dinners in her home. To her five grandchildren she was known as "Gigi".
She was preceded in death by her parents, Cecil Foster and Gena Lee Foster, and her siblings Howard Foster and David Foster. Those left to cherish her memory are her son Sean Naquin and his daughter Maddie; son Aaron Naquin, his wife Heidi, and children Avery, Wyatt, and Landry; son Clint Naquin, his wife Cheri, and daughter Clara; her sister Sylvia Munzer; nephews Dana Foster and Andrea Lockey, David Foster, Timothy McAllister and family, and Roland Robbins; niece Gina McAllister-Beers and family; and her dog Sophia.
A small private gathering is planned for family and close friends on Sunday, October 22nd from 12 to 4 pm at the home that has been in her family for generations. In accordance with her wishes, this will be a joyous and cheerful occasion to honor her memory and celebrate her life.
