Cuthbert Lamar "Buddy" Parker was born June 22, 1931 in Perry, Florida to Allie and Cuff Parker. He passed into the loving arms of Jesus on December 2, 2017 at Spring Lake Nursing Home due to complications from Pneumonia. He became a member of Northpoint United Methodist Church after moving to Mooringsport in June of this year. He was previously a member of Shreveport Baptist Temple for twenty-five years. He loved the Lord as he gave his life to Him at an early age and loved telling the story of how he was Baptized in a creek in Perry, Florida.
Buddy served in the United States Army as a Medical Technician from 1948 – 1952 with most of his tour being stationed in Germany. After returning from Germany he was stationed in Battle Creek, Michigan where he worked at Percy General Hospital. It was there he met a cute girl named Kathy and they were married in 1953. Years later they moved from Michigan to Louisiana which was their home until Kathy died on June 27 of this year. He loved her and missed her dearly. He spent many hours rocking on the back porch looking up at the stars with tears in his eyes telling her how much he missed her.
Buddy was a life insurance salesman with Western-Southern Life Insurance Company for more than thirty years before retiring. After retirement he formed Parker Floor Service where he worked alongside Kathy for several years.
His hobbies included hunting and fishing, but most importantly he loved spending time with family.
Buddy was preceded in death by his wife of sixty-four years, Kathy Parker; four brothers: Jimmy, Leo, J.C. and Clyde; three sisters: Wilma, Lucille and Geleta; and great granddaughter Emaleigh Nicole Olson.
Left to forever cherish his memory are his children, Debora Mitchell and husband Ray of Denham Springs, Louisiana; James Lamar Parker of Shreveport, and his youngest daughter, Susie Wilkinson and husband Bobby of Mooringsport, Louisiana.
