Clara Compton

September 16, 1934 – October 28, 2026

Clara Compton was born in Natchitoches Parish on September 16, 1934, and passed away in Shreveport, Louisiana, on October 28, 2026.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Archie Compton; son, Robert L. Chelette; grandson, Robert L. Chelette Jr.; and two sisters, Rowena Brown and Jerry Clancy.

She is survived by her son, Johnny Chelett; daughter-in-law, Dona Chelette; sister, Cynthia Hackwith; seven grandchildren, Jamie, Joshua, Rhodie, Jeffery, Anthony, Kymberly, and Christina; ten great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, great-nieces, and nephews.

She was also known in the Angels of Destiny community as “Mama Clara,” where, for the last ten years, she held the record for the most angels made each year.

A memorial service will be held 2:00pm Tuesday, November 10, 2026, at Aulds Funeral Home in Shreveport,LA.
