Charulata "Charu"
Shah
March 12, 1948 – August 1, 2024
A beloved Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Sister, and Aunt -- Charulata Shah ("Charu") passed
away gently in the early morning hours of Thursday, August 1, 2024 after a nearly 10 year
long battle with ovarian cancer.
Born in Palitana, Gujarat, India on March 12, 1948 to Maneklal and Manglaben Bagadia,
Charulata grew up in Palitana and Ahmedabad, Gujarat, India. She graduated with a
Bachelor of Arts degree from Gujarat University. She arrived in the United States in 1975
with her husband Mukund, and she remained a resident of Monroe, LA until her passing.
Charulata enjoyed gardening, cooking, and embroidery. She created several embroidered
pieces that are still hanging in the family home. She also especially enjoyed time with her
grandson Milo, whether in person or by daily video calls with him.
Charulata was also a devout Jain and very spiritual person, and she spent signiicant time
each day in prayer and worship. Because of this personal foundation of strength, Charu was
able to support numerous family and friends through adversity, and she was also able to
endure her own challenges with quiet strength and determination.
Charulata is survived by her husband of nearly 50 years Mukund Shah; her elder son
Sameer Shah; her younger son Beejal Shah and daughter-in-law Baillie Shah; and her
grandson Milo Shah who affectionately called her "Charu Baa".
Charulata is also survived by beloved friend Kanwaljeet Singh and his loving family;
treasured friend Hasuben Amin and caring family; cherished friend Bhanuben Patel and
precious family; and multiple close family friends whom she met in the Monroe, LA area.
Charulata is additionally survived by her brothers Kiritbhai Bagadia and Rohitbhai Bagadia
and their beautiful families in India. She is preceded in death by her father Maneklal
Bagadia, her mother Manglaben Bagadia, and brother Dilipbhai Bagadia.
Charulata and the family inally want to take this moment to express their heartfelt
appreciation to Dr. Diane Bodurka (MD Anderson) and Dr. Scott Barron (St. Francis) for all
of the care and guidance they provided to her over the years.
The funeral for Mrs. Charulata Shah will be held at Aulds Funeral Home in Shreveport,
LA on Sunday, August 4 at 5:00 PM. In lieu of lowers, please consider making a donation to
Food Bank of Northeast Louisiana, MD Anderson Cancer Center, St. Francis Medical Center
Foundation, Ovarian Cancer Research Alliance, or your favorite charity.
