Don grew up in Shreveport. He Graduated from Byrd high school Shreveport, LA in 1961. After high school he graduated from Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge, LA in 1966 and Loyola University College of Law in New Orleans, LA in 1969.

He became an Attorney in Shreveport in 1970 where he worked for 46 years. He supported the community for many years as a personal injury lawyer with affordable legal services. Mr. McNeill was innovative as one of the first attorneys in Shreveport in the early 1970's to hire minorities.

He was diagnosed with Cancer (non hodgkin's lymphoma) when he was 41 years old. After treatment (6 treatments of Chemotherapy) he went into remission where he remained cancer free for 30 years.

He was diagnosed with esophageal cancer (Stage 3B) again 2 years ago. He went through 28 radiation and 14 Chemotherapy treatments. Half-way through he went into remission for 6 months and sadly the cancer returned, resulting in his death. The Family would like to thank Dr. S. Scott Boniol and his secretaries, Theresa and Allison for their kindness and considerate care.

Don was preceded in death by his brother, Michael McNeill, and his parents, Ethelyn and Charles McNeill.

Don is survived by his spouse of 46 years, Sallie O. McNeill of Benton, LA, his son Bryan McNeill, daughter-in-law Judy McNeill, granddaughter, Grace McNeill in Dallas, TX, and nephew, David McNeill and wife Gena McNeill of Dubach, LA.

A Memorial service will be held at Aulds Funeral Home at 10am Saturday, August 13, 2016 with the Rev. Carl Rice officiating. Visitation will be held from 5-7pm Friday, August 12, 2016 at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Forest Park Cemetery (East) following the service.
