Obituary

Camilla Arlene Billings Gandy was born in Canal Fulton, Ohio, on January 23, 1933. She was the oldest child of Samuel and Hildred Billings and she passed away on March 20, 2022, at the age of 89.Camilla joined the Air Force where she was a flight mapper, directly after graduating high school in Newcomers Town, Ohio. She met her husband, Robert, who was an air traffic controller. Six weeks after the meeting, they married and remained married for 59 years. When she became pregnant with her first child, the Air Force asked her to resign, she then became a stay–at–home mom. She went on to have 7 more children (5 boys, 3 girls) In the 80s she went to BPCC and received an associate degree in food service management and managed the cafeteria at BPCC for many years. She obtained a driver's license at the age of 41. She was so proud to be able to drive herself around instead of relying on others.

Her faith has always been a vitally important aspect of her life. Being able to teach Sunday School, being an elder in the church, and sharing her love of Christ and our Lord with others was very special to her. She darned the altar cloth that was pretty ragged, washed and starched it to return to the Church, and made the bread to be blessed for monthly communion every month.

She is preceded in death by her parents Samuel and Hildred Billings, her husband Robert, Sr, her brothers David Billings and Carl Billing, sons Robert, Jr, Glen Gandy, daughters in law Mary Gandy, Pamela Lawrence Gandy, and Debra Gandy, as well as grandchildren Aleigha Shannon and Scott Faust.

She is survived by 6 of her 8 children, Elizabeth Baronette, Steven Gandy, Leon Gandy, and his wife Sherry Gandy, Shirley Martin, Phyllis Brawley, and Larry Gandy; 19 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, and numerous great-great children. Many nieces and nephews and a host of friends.

We will celebrate Camilla's life on Saturday, March 26th at 1:00, with visitation starting at 12:00. The service will be held at Doyline United Methodist Church with Montie Dobbins officiating. The Air Force Honor Guard will be in attendance at the church after the service. The family would like to thank the Doctors and staff of WKMC for their tender, sweet care and Aulds funeral home in assisting with the arrangements.
