IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Brian
Sample
February 4, 1970 – March 27, 2021
Brian Barton Sample, 51, went to be with the Lord on March 27, 2021.
Brian was born February 4, 1970 in Houston, Texas. He was a graduate of Captain Shreve High School and attended Louisiana Tech University. He also attended Louisiana State University at Shreveport, where he met the love of his life and wife of 28 years, Allison.
Brian was a Supervisor for Boggs and Poole Contracting Group. He contributed his expertise to many community projects, such as Chimp Haven, The Saint Joseph's Family Life Center, Louisiana Delta Community College in Monroe, as well as several schools in the Shreveport- Bossier area.
Brian was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Hollis and Opal McCown, and his stepfather, Bill Whitaker. Left to treasure his memory are his wife, Allison; mother, Sally McCown Whitaker; daughters, Penny and Brianna; grandson, Connor Berry; Sandra and Lewis Hines (in-laws), Glenn and Stephanie Dumond; Roland and Michele McCown; Garry McCown; Holly Hines, numerous nieces, and nephews; and his Grace Community UMC family.
Brian was known for his bigger than life personality. He never met a stranger and loved the life he led. Brian was a loving son, who had a very close relationship with his mother, Sally. Above all Brian was devoted to his wife, Allison and his precious daughters, Penny and Brianna. He adored coaching his girls in softball, cooking for their fundraisers, and cheering them on in every facet of their lives. With the addition of Connor Cain, his life was forever changed. The mutual joy they brought each other and comradery they shared only proved that they were definitely "two peas in a pod."
Brian's love for the Lord was the foundation on which he led his life and raised his family. He believed in a life of service. Along with Allison, he could always be seen at Grace UMC, whether he was serving as a member of the Board of Trustees, working in the children's program, holding babies in the nursery, or just serving coffee before services. He was there, showing up for the people of his faith community.
