Brenda Renee Shafer Pelletier
February 1, 1984 – November 21, 2015
Brenda was born February 1, 1984 in Shreveport, LA to Roberta Sue Stark and Don Alan Shafer. She departed this life sleeping, peacefully in her home, on November 21, 2015, at the young age of 31.
After a courageous battle she fought and lost for custody/visitation of her children. The loss and anguish was just too much for her to bear any longer.
Brenda was raised in Keithville, LA and attended Keithville elementary School, Caddo Middle Magnet and Huntington High School Law and Business Magnet. Brenda excelled in school and enjoyed theater, art and music. She later attended college at Bossier Parish Community College and Louisiana State University at Alexandra in pursuit of a career in nursing. Brenda worked tirelessly in animal rescue for the local Humane Society for many years and was passionate about animal rescue.
Left to cherish Brenda's memory, are her two children; a daughter, Scarlett Elizabeth Warner of Pineville, LA; son, Roman Robert Michael Pelletier of Dry Prong, LA; mother, Roberta Sue Stark of Shreveport, LA; father, Don Alan Shafer and wife, Beverly of Clarksville, TN; two brothers, Patrick Shafer and wife, Lori of Plano, TX, Jared Pelletier of Haughton, LA; sister, Leah Pelletier Brown and husband, Josh of Benton, LA; step-father, Shawn Monahan of Stanley, ID; step-mother, Judith Bunders-Pelletier of Little Elm, TX, step-grandmother, Yevonne Stark, Dry Prong, LA; her furry felines, Lucy and Oliver, and numerous uncles, aunts and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her adoptive father, Ricky Lewis Pelletier, grandfathers, Robert D. Stark and Charles D. Shafer; grandmothers, Sallie Prater Stark and Isabel Sanchez Shafer
Brenda was a kind and generous woman, who believed greatly in the teachings of the Bible and who accepted Jesus Christ in to her heart at the age of 10. She loved fiercely those close to her.
Her greatest accomplishments in life were her children and her greatest wish was for her children to live happy lives, to reach for the stars, accomplish their goals, live a life in God's purpose, and to finally break the cycle of broken family bonds and to have successful and happy families of their own. We pray her soul is finally at everlasting peace with our Lord Jesus Christ. Memorials in Brenda's name can be made to: The Humane Society of Northwest Louisiana.
