IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Brenda Joyce
Burkhalter
February 2, 1953 – January 29, 2020
Brenda Joyce Burkhalter was raised the youngest of three girls. Born February 2, 1953, she became the leader of the pack, not by age, but by sheer stubborness and effort. From birth all the way to her death on January 29, 2020, Brenda was the person to which everyone brought their problems. Fondly refered to as Meme by members of her family biological or otherwise, Brenda was always ready to take control of every situation.
As a stay at home mother of three, Brenda formed a female lead boyscout troupe in a time and place where all boyscout troupes were lead by males. Under her guidance, the troupe, that she had formed in an effort to help her oldest son, won more awards than any other troupe in her parish.
After years of being a stay at home mom, Brenda decided to try her hand at being a working woman, and recieved her nursing license in 1989. From there, she began a nursing career of thirty years, the majority of which was spent working at Pilgrim Manor Nursing Home. Brenda had said numerous times throughout her life that she would get bored if she stopped working, and this proved to be true for the final two months of her life, where she remained at home except when finding new places to visit with whomever was available.
Brenda was proceeded in death by her husband, Issac Burkhalter, her mother, Margaret Louise Weaver, and her oldest sister, Sharon Hammett; all of whom she will now be able to see as she watches over her remaining family as they grow and prosper.
She will be fondly remembered for years to come by her two older sisters, Glenda and Linda, her sister in heart and soul, Linda Nell, her three children, Tammy, Issac, and Jeremy, as well as her grandchildren and every person she had adopted into the family over the years. All of these people and more will pass along the stories of Brenda's life to her first great-granddaughter Emily, as well as each of the great-grandchildren to come.
Her death will be honored on the day of her birth at 2 pm on February 2nd 2020 at Aulds Funeral Home.
