Bobby Ray Hughes went to be with his Lord and Savior on July 17, 2023 at the age of 85. He was preceded in death by his parents, Moses and Nixie Hughes and his grandmother whom he called "Little Mama".

Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 56 years, Margaret Hughes, son, Brian K. Hughes and wife Courtney, grandson, Aaron Kyle Hughes, Leslie Hughes, mother-in-law, Margaret Morell and special cousin, Darryl Lincoln and many special friends.

Bobby was a lifelong resident of Shreveport. He was introduced to the work force at the early age of nine when he went to work for his father who owned Hughes and Roberts Grocery. He graduated from Fair Park High School and said that he was the only one who owned a Cadillac in his class, which he of course paid for himself. He attended Louisiana Tech for two years and after a few employments ended up getting a position as a teller at Shreveport Bank & Trust. He moved up the ladder quickly and became supervisor of the Transit Department and eventually branch manager at the Jewella location. In 1969, he began working for the Caddo Parish School Board as a purchasing agent and retired after 30 years in 1999.

He loved duck hunting, woodworking, traveling, and playing golf in Hot Springs Village. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and a faithful member of Summer Grove Baptist Church until he could no longer attend.

The family will receive friends and family from 10am Wednesday, July 26, 2023 at Aulds Funeral Home with the funeral service following at 11am with Brother Price Harris officiating. Interment will follow at Centuries Memorial in Shreveport.
