Obituary

In the company of his loving parents and sister, as well as his caring and compassionate
doctors and nurses of the Willis Knighton North Hospital. Bernie sadly passed away after a
short, but courageous battle against meningitis at 4:17 PM on Tuesday, November 30, 2021 in
Shreveport, Louisiana.
Bernie is survived by his parents Linda Stewart and Michael Neely as well as his loving sister
Jami and her husband David Johnson and their children Trenten, Josie and Ellie. His
grandfather Larry Miller, grandparents Gordon and Lois Neely and family residing in Canada. He
is predeceased by his son Kyle Neely, his grandfather Charles Stewart and his grandmother
Gina Miller and his aunt Carol Dunne.
Bernie was a loving and devoted son to his mother Linda, he would always stay in touch by
sending her silly text messages, others were filled with his dreams and aspirations which he
loved to share with her. Bernie was a loving brother to his only sibling, his sister Jami. As their
father it was a wonderful sight to see them together playing games, drawing or just spending
time with one another. Later in life Bernie was a very loving uncle to his sisters children, his
nephew Trenten and his two nieces Josie and Eliie. He would always give them big long loving
hugs when he saw them and they loved spending time with their loving uncle. It's memories
such as these that we will all cherish and hold on to forever, for Bernie may be gone from this
earth, but he will live on forever in our hearts. We will honor his memory by living life to the
fullest, because that's what he would have wanted us to do.
Bernie, who was known to his friends as James loved the simple things in life but was a restless
soul and always on the move. He loved travelling, the latest technology, posting his thoughts on
social media, and being with his family and friends. Bernie loved challenging himself and
learning new skills and was an incredible artist, something he started early in his childhood.
Bernie loved to draw portraits, nature scenes, animals and pretty much anything he was thinking
of at the time, but his true passion was in the art of tattooing. Putting ink to skin was what he
truly loved to do and something he was extremely good at. He loved listening to his many clients
just where the ideas came from while striving to please his many clients. Making James Deanz
Mobile Tattooing a successful business, was foremost on Bernie's mind, it was his dream and
his life's passion. Bernie will be deeply missed by his family and friends and all that knew him.
A celebration of life will be held at the Good Hope Baptist Church on Thursday, December 16th
at 10:00 AM. The church is located at 4220 Barksdale Blvd, Bossier City LA, 71112 and the
Pastor will be Lee A. Jeter Sr.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Fuller Center of NW Louisiana or the Good
Hope Baptist Church.

The Day God Called You Home
You never said I'm leaving
You never said goodbye
You were gone before we knew it
And only God knew why
In life we loved you dearly
In death we love you still
In our hearts you hold a place
No one could ever fill
It broke our hearts to lose you
But you did not go alone
For part of us went with you
The day God called you home
