Benjamin Charles Dayton Sr, age 77 passed away peacefully on Wednesday June 13, 2018 at Overton Brooks VA in Shreveport, LA.  Born December 6th, 1940 in Somers Point NJ.  He proudly served in the US Army with Elvis Presley in Ft. Chaffee AR, FT Dix NJ, and Germany.  He was a hard worker before retirement as an independent drywall contracted who prided his self on his work.

Ben is preceded in death by Father Walter Dayton Sr, Mother Elizabeth Huber, Step-Father William Huber, 1st Wife Laura Mae Pumphrey. Brothers Walter Dayton Jr and Richard Dayton.

Ben is survived by wife of 52 years Doris Gean Dayton of LA, Brothers: Henry Dayton and wife Doris Mae Dayton of NJ, Brothers: Victor Dayton and wife Lorraine Dayton of FL, George Dayton and wife BobbieJoe Dayton of PA. Daughters: Laurie Pumphrey and Lillie Smith of NJ, Pamela Stanhope of NJ, Doris Bailey of LA, Geanie Hamlin of LA. Sons: Charlie Pumphrey of NJ, Benjamin Dayton Jr and wife Jeanina Dayton of FL, Bernie Dayton of FL. Grandchildren: Jason Hamlin and wife Krista Hamlin of AR, Staci Hamlin of AR, Kristi Greer and husband Jordan Greer of LA, Lucille Dayton and Cody Lee of LA, Tina Dayton of FL, Ben Dayton III of FL, David Dayton and Samatha Downing  of FL, Travis Dayton of FL, Laura Mae Stanhope of NJ, Gloria Stanhope of NJ, Jamie Johnson of NJ, Kara Barone of VA, Stephanie Stanhope of NV, Natalia Dayton of NJ, Victoria Dayton of NJ, A total of 19 great-grand children, a multitude of nieces and nephews and a good friend Rick Lee of AR.

The family will be gathering at Ben's home in Springhill this week.  There will be a Celebration of Life in his happy place, his very own backyard at 2 pm Saturday June 16, 2018. His house and yard are small so the family encourages anyone who wants to come to show their respect and condolence can come anytime Thursday, Friday, or Saturday.
