IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Belva Kruger
Hester Betts
December 19, 1928 – October 2, 2021
Mrs. Belva Kruger Hester Betts, a long time resident of Shreveport, passed away after a brief illness in the early morning hours of Saturday, October 2, 2021. She was born in Henderson, TX, on December 19, 1928, to Wynona and Augustus Kruger and was raised by her mother and step-father H. B. Massingill. She attended high school and business college in Longview, where she earned her degree and met her husband and the father of her two children, Richard T. Hester, Jr. That degree prepared her for a life long career as a bookkeeper and accountant for various businesses until she retired at the age of 70. She met and married her husband George C. Betts on January 17, 1981. They were happily married until he passed away on September 12, 2011. Belva is survived by her daughter Guin Kihneman Hopper and her husband Dale of Ida, LA, and by her son Richard T. Hester, III, and his wife Marsha of Baton Rouge, LA. Her grandchildren are Kevin Kihneman and his wife Sarah of Austin, TX, Dr. Jason Kihneman and his wife Sarah of Hickory, NC, Jenny Kihneman Schroeder and her husband Eric of Nacogdoches, TX, Dr. Julie Kihneman Kingsbury and her husband Zach of Austin, TX, Lauren Hester Estle of Prairieville, LA, and Richard T. Hester, IV of Houston, TX. She was blessed with 13 great grandchildren and extremely proud of her legacy. She was a long time member of Life Tabernacle in Shreveport and taught a women's Sunday school class for many years. She loved working, cooking, meal planning, and serving for her family and friends. She was truly a servant of God and spent countless hours praying for her family. It seemed that she never missed a chance to share her faith and tell others the Good News of Jesus Christ. Visitation will be at Auld's Funeral Home in Shreveport from 5-7 p.m. on Monday, October, 4, 2021. A graveside service, officiated by Randy Goudeau, chaplain of Regional Hospice, will be held at Lakeview Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens in Longview, TX, on Tuesday, October 5, 2021, at 3pm. The family wants to personally thank the staff and caregivers of Garden Park Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Shreveport, where Belva resided the last few months of her life. In addition, we express our gratitude to the Regional Hospice team who served and cared for her both at her home and the last few days of her life. Memorial contributions can be made to Christians United for Israel, P.O. Box 1307, San Antonio, TX 78295-9909.
