Barbara Jo Self, 81, of Stonewall, LA passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday morning, May 22, 2018, after a lengthy illness. Barbara Jo was born on September 8, 1936 to James Howard and Willie Wesley White in Jonesboro, LA. A graduate from Northwestern State University in Natchitoches, LA earning a Bachelors of Science in Nursing, her career in nursing spanned an impressive 45 years.

Barbara was a lover of animals, photography, avid traveler with her husband, and most importantly being around family. Her kindness and giving nature endeared her to everyone.

Barbara was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her family, who will miss her dearly; brother James Henry White of Pascagoula, MS, husband Bobby L. Self, Sr. of Stonewall, LA, son Bobby L. Self, Jr. of Stonewall, LA, daughter Donna Weldon of Stonewall, LA, son Alan Self (Tammy) of Shreveport, LA, daughter Laurie Self (Barry) of Shreveport, LA, eight grandchildren (Michele, Madison, Lee, Ashley, Ryan, Davis, Jordan, and Ryan) and many great-grandchildren, and other family members and dear friends.

A funeral service will be held at 12pm Friday, May 25, 2018, at Aulds Funeral Home (7849 E. Kings Highway Shreveport, LA 71115), and a visitation will be held prior to from 10am until service time. Officiating services are Bro. Bill Kincaid. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the breast cancer society or the charity of your choice.
