In Loving Memory of Barbara Gale Larance Needham

August 13, 1944- February 7, 2024

Barbara Gale Larance Needham, 79, of Shreveport, Louisiana passed away on Wednesday, February 7, 2024, after a brief illness at Post Acute Medical Specialty Hospital in Shreveport, LA. Barbara was born to the late L.A. Larance and Lila F. Larance, August 13, 1944, in Shreveport, LA. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She is survived by her husband James Needham, sister Edwina Melder, son Russ Ussery, daughters Cindy Petersiel and Lori Ussery, stepson, Brian Needham, son-in-law, Eric Petersiel, and grandchildren Kelsey Holcombe, Rachel Needham, Annie Petersiel, and Ben Petersiel.

Barbara is preceded in death by parents L.A. Larance and Lila Larance as well as her sister Ella Mae Freeman.

Barbara was loved by so many and made friends wherever she went.  When her children were young, she was active in their school and extra-curricular activities, always volunteering to help out.  Barbara traveled the world and lived in many places as her children were growing up before settling back in her hometown of Shreveport. She retired from a long career as a bank teller where she met many wonderful people, both colleagues and customers.

Barbara loved flowers and planting them around her patio. She loved spending time with family, especially her grandchildren. Barbara and her sisters were close to the end and enjoyed shopping and going to lunch together.

A memorial service to honor Barbara's life will be held at Auld's Funeral Home, 7849 E. Kings Highway, on Monday March 11 at 1:00 p.m . A reception will be held at Summer Grove Baptist Church following the service at 2:00 p.m.  In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to St. Jude's Children's Hospital in Memory of Barbara.
