Albert Junior Rettenmaier, age 80, of Shreveport, passed away Monday, September 9th, 2024. He was born on November 5, 1943, in Fort Dodge, Iowa, to William and Mary (Steininger) Rettenmaier. Following graduation from Fort Dodge Senior High School in 1961, he joined the U.S. Army and was stationed in West Germany from 1963 to 1966. Following his service, he lived in California where he worked as a U.S. Customs inspector at LAX and enjoyed meeting many celebrities over the years. Albert relocated to Shreveport in 1986 where he retired from the U.S. Customs in 2004. He married Patricia Waddell in 2006, and they spent many years as avid LSU and Saints fans.
He is survived by his son David L. Rettenmaier of Antelope, CA, sister Catherine C. Kessler of Huntington Beach, CA, stepson and family of Kevin J. Waddell of Charlottesville, VA, and stepdaughter Lisa Bass and family of New Orleans, LA. He is preceded in death by his wife Pat, brother Robert W. "Bob" Rettenmaier, and sister Frances M. Dougherty.
