Alanson Raymond Travis III passed away on Saturday, December 6, 2025, in Shreveport, LA,  with family by his side.

Mr. Travis was born on August 22, 1944, in Red Bank, NJ, the son of the late A. Raymond Travis Jr. and the late Newell Fraser Travis Specht.  Ray grew up near the Jersey Shore, served in the Air Force, worked as an oil well maverick on the Gulf of Mexico, and finally returned to New Jersey to complete his career as an entrepreneur.

Ray was a brilliant businessman who founded and, for 21 years, oversaw the management of   the US #1 Flea Market and Antiques in New Brunswick, NJ. The enterprise was one of the largest indoor flea markets in the US, with over 500 dealers under one roof.

He made time for fun and excitement in his life, and shared that enthusiasm with friends and family, especially as he raced up and down the Navesink River near Red Bank, NJ on his banana boat, aptly named "Gone Bananas."  Family members recall a memorable dinner cruise to celebrate his mother's birthday one August evening.

In 2002, he moved to Texas to enjoy a quieter life with his family.

Ray is survived by his wife Madeline Lee Baker Travis, of Melissa, Texas; daughter Lara Travis Takara (Edward), Shreveport;  sons A. Raymond Travis-Baker (Keenan), Anna, Texas, and Jason Travis-Baker (Alexandra), San Antonio, Texas; seven grand- children;  siblings, Nancy Travis Stewart (the late William A.) , Jane Travis Blais (the late Marc), Barbara Travis Cole (James), David Fraser Travis (Judy), and Diana Lee Travis; as well as an abundance of nieces and nephews who have many fond stories to tell.

Family and friends will remember Ray at a family gathering on the Jersey Shore next summer.

Ray will be interred at Bedford Union Cemetery in Bedford, NY beside his mother, father and many ancestors.
