Alfred Edward Johnson, 77, passed away suddenly at his residence June 4 th , 2020. Al was born in Charleston, South Carolina, to Alfred Leroy Johnson and Etta Mae Mashaw Johnson. The Johnsons moved to Shreveport, Louisiana, where Al attended Caddo Parish schools, graduating from Fair Park High School in 1961. Al earned his degree in Civil Engineering in 1966 from the Louisiana Polytechnic Institute and his MBA from Georgia State University in 1972.
Following graduation he found his love for traveling around the world, sailing in the Caribbean, and working in Saudi Arabia and Australia in refinery construction. He then worked for the Department of Transportation in Atlanta, Georgia for many years. After returning to Shreveport, he was employed by Professional Service Industries as a Professional Engineer.
Al was preceded in death by his parents and older Brother, Donald R. "Don" Johnson. Left to cherish his memory is his sister, Susan Kissinger, nieces Erin Kissinger Peters, Amy Kissinger, Shannon Johnson, Heidi Arnold, and sister in law Judy Johnson. Al also leaves behind Casey Arnold, a valued trustworthy friend, and John K. Rainer, with whom Al enjoyed a special father – son relationship. A private celebration of Al's life was commemorated by the family. Donations in lieu of flowers can be made to the American Heart Association.
